The router shall be a mechanical router capable of following meandering cracks, keeping the rout centreline within 8 mm of the centre of the crack, and providing a rout width of 40 mm to 50 mm and a depth of 6 mm to 8 mm. The work of routing and sealing cracks in hot mix asphalt pavement shall include preparation of the crack sealant, routing and cleaning the cracks, and the placing of the crack sealant compound.
Crack router machine has a self-propelled power saw with small diameter (152 mm 6 inches or less) water-cooled diamond or abrasive saw blades for cutting cracks to the depths and widths specified and for removing filler that is embedded in the cracks or adhered to the crack faces. Use a saw blade with a diameter small enough to allow the saw to closely follow the trace of the crack.
