Multiple different versions of the crack router unit have been manufactured and used by the researchers and NDOR crews in order to test its performance as well as to train crews and provide demonstrations.
Several outdoor training and demonstration sessions were performed at an NDOR district yard in Lincoln, NE. NDOR was asked to let its crews work with crack router in order to become familiar with its operation. During such sessions, the crews were also asked to share their ideas and give feedback about crack router’s performance, which helped improve the crack router design and enabled achievement of the device’s highest performance. It was also observed that the crews quickly learned the operation of crack router and started to comfortably route cracks.
